and all through the house
People were generally excited
and maybe a little drunk.
Everyone was making noise
and staying up late.
"Santa may have tomorrow,
but this night is for us!"
So the merriment lasted
into the wee hours.
All worries forgotten
till dawn the next day
Then with a cry, they'll exclaim
"Shit, we've got presents to wrap"
